This brilliant skit on the vanity of authors and critics and the theatrical practises of publicity men of the eighteenth century provided Sir Laurence Olivier with one of his great comic triumphs at the Old Vic in 1945.
Its presentation in the setting of the Theatre Royal, which was built only some thirteen years before the play was written, should add a special flavour to its wit and charm.
