7/23/2012 Sir Patrick Stewart Carries Olympic Flame To Croydon School

Sir Patrick Stewart carried the Olympic Flame when it arrived at St Andrew's School in Croydon on July 23, 2012. Stewart arrived at the Warrington Road school with the torch, at about 12.50pm. The Olympic Torch's visit to St Andrew's is particularly exciting for staff and pupils, because the song Carry the Torch, which was sung at the start of the flame's 8,000 mile journey, was composed by Ian Rae- a teacher at the school. Headteacher David Matthews, said: "The students were already excited at the prospect of hosting the Olympic Flame and now they are even more thrilled such an illustrious celebrity will be bringing it to their school."
